MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The $300 weekly federal benefits are coming to an end on July 31. That’s one reason why the Louisiana Workforce Commission launched their Back to Work campaign to help people get hired.

On August 4, they’ll be set up for eight job fairs across the state and one will be at the Monroe Civic Center from 9 a.m. to noon. LWC says there will be 43 employers and 763 jobs available in Monroe.

“Our goal here is to make sure people don’t get behind the eight ball. We want to make sure that people are out front and finding their next career. The Back to Work Louisiana campaign isn’t just jobs. These are careers that are going to be available to folks. These are family-sustaining careers that put food on the table and keep a roof over folks’ heads,” LWC public information director Chris Fiore said.

The job fair will also double as a COVID-19 vaccination site. They say to make sure to bring a mask and multiple copies of your resume.

Pre-registration is encouraged on the LWC website or through social media.
