City of Monroe appointing new economic developer
MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The City of Monroe has announced the upcoming appointment of a Chief Economic Developer with the hope of improving the area’s economy.
The City says Kelsea McCrary will be appointed to the position effective August 2, 2021.
The news was shared Tuesday afternoon in a Monroe press release in which Mayor Friday Ellis praises her “multi-functional” knowledge and experience. He is also quoted saying, “It’s been nearly seven years since the city has had a Chief Economic Developer.”
The news release said McCrary worked with Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser’s Office of Cultural Development in Baton Rouge and led Public Policy communications at LUMEN Technologies. It said she holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Louisiana Monroe and a Master’s in Public Administration from Louisiana State University.
“I’m glad to be home and look forward to joining Mayor Ellis’ team in helping Monroe achieve its full potential as a thriving city,” McCrary said in the news release.
