UPDATE: Man previously wanted in Elm Street shooting no longer a suspect
UPDATE 2: Deontrae Walker was released by police shortly after being taken into custody. Police said after further investigation, Walker is no longer a suspect in the shooting. As he is no longer a suspect, his image has been removed from this article. As of 3:30 p.m. on July 27, MPD is still looking to identify the shooter.
UPDATE: Authorities say Deontrae Walker has been located and taken into custody. They say he was found at the same residence as Terrikirras Smith. Smith was previously arrested in a June 30, 2021 shooting.
MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Authorities are searching for a man wanted for attempted second-degree murder. The incident happened on July 23, 2021, at around 11:30 p.m.
According to the Monroe Police Department, the victim in the shooting was traveling in the 4200 block of Elm Street when at least one suspect in a yard shot at their vehicle hitting the driver in the stomach area. Police say the victim was taken to a hospital and is listed in stable condition.
Detectives were called to the scene and determined 22-year-old Deontrae Walker as a suspect. They say a warrant has been obtained for Walker charging him with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property, and illegal use of a weapon.
