MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Delta Wellness Readiness Training Program provided healthcare services to thousands of people in the Lake Providence community on July 17.

All these services were provided at no cost. It gave active duty members in the U.S. Military Reserves Force and the U.S. Department of Defense a chance to train and hone their skills.

Thousands of people from the community received wellness, dental, and vision exams for free.

“We were seeing, just here in Lake Providence alone, we saw over 4,000 patients, and it’s been successful. Our dental team knocked out 2,000, optometry had over 1,100 procedures and with that optometry, members do come here to optometry and leave with a pair of glasses if needed,” said Sergeant Jose Caban, the Air Force Master Site First Sergeant in Lake Providence.

The event wrapped up this evening and organizers say this is an annual event.
