RUSTON, La. (KNOE) - Ruston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run that claimed the life of a 21-year-old from West Monroe.

According to the Ruston Police Department, it happened around 11:10 p.m. on July 15, 2021, in the 4200 block of Highway 80 East.

There, officers found a Black male, identified as Jeremiah Cox, 21, unresponsive in the westbound travel lane. Police say Cox appeared to have been hit by a vehicle.

Officers began to render aid until paramedics arrived, but Cox did not survive.

Police say they are working to locate the driver and vehicle involved in Cox’s death.
