MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Events are flocking to Northeast Louisiana this weekend!

The first annual Calvert Crossing Thunder on the Ouachita River is June 26 - 27, 2021 at the Forsythe Boat Ramp. It starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday. Admission is $8, and free for kids 12 and under. If you want to participate, you can register around 8 a.m. on race day. The Deep South Racing Association says a portion of the proceeds will go to the Monroe Police Department. The association says you can’t bring in your own alcohol to the event, but they will be selling alcohol at the event.

Zoobilation is the Louisiana Purchase Gardens & Zoo’s big annual fundraiser. It’s this Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. The zoological society says the proceeds will go toward buying an ADA compliant coach for the train. The zoo is located at 1405 Bernstein Park Drive in Monroe. They’ll have all their amazing animals, food trucks, vendors, and both the train and boat rides going. It’s $10 for adults and $6 for kids 2 and older.

The first annual Angel’s Gala is at the Hub this Saturday, June 26, 2021. The cocktail hour starts at 6 p.m., dinner is at 7 p.m., and the event is at 8 p.m. I Will Carry You & the Zoey Renee Project teamed up to raise money for ‘caring cradles’ for hospitals around Northeast Louisiana. Organizers say the cradles give families more time with their baby after they’ve passed away.

A Crappie tournament is coming to Northeast Louisiana this weekend. The Crappie USA Region 4 Regional will be on the Ouachita River June 25 - 26, 2021. Friday and Saturday fishing will run from 6:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. with weigh-ins at the Moon Lake Boat Ramp at 4 p.m. each day. Anglers from around the region will compete for $25,000 in prizes. The Monroe - West Monroe Convention and Visitors Bureau says they’re estimating it’ll bring in over $100,000 to Ouachita Parish.
