MONROE, La. (KNOE) - It’s kitten season, so many shelters will be full to the brim right now and River Cities Humane Society for Cats is no different! They’ve got about 150 cats at the shelter right now. Not all of them are at the shelter, some are in foster care.

This morning, we met Toast and Mist in our Adopt a Pet segment on Good Morning ArkLaMiss. Their siblings are also at the shelter, Smoke and Turkey, plus so many other kittens and cats.

They say it’s extremely important to have people foster young kittens who aren’t ready to be adopted yet. Fostering gives the kittens a place to grow, develop their personalities, and get used to normal household noises and other pets.

Before you come to the shelter they ask that you fill out a pre-adoption application first, then they’ll call you and set up an appointment. They’ve also got applications for fostering and volunteering on their website.

You can reach out through Facebook or call at (318) 343-3031 if you have questions.

The shelter is open between 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and they’re located at 5302 DeSiard Street in Monroe.
