CALDWELL PARISH, La. (KNOE) - Authorities say they have recovered the body of a man they believe drowned after an accident on the Boeuf River.

The search began on June 15, 2021, in the area where Caldwell Parish meets Franklin Parish.

According to Franklin Parish Sheriff Kevin Cobb, the victim was identified as 70-year-old Clifford Jewel. He was recovered around 8 a.m. Thursday.

The sheriff said it appears that the steering cable on his boat broke, moving his boat in a way that ejected him from the watercraft.

Multiple agencies assisted with the search.
