MPD: South Carolina man accused of attempted second-degree murder
MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Authorities have arrested a South Carolina man accused of attempted second-degree murder and aggravated kidnapping.
According to the Monroe Police Department, on June 10, 2021, the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office found a female victim with extensive injuries to her face off Bee Bayou Road and White Rock Road in Richland Parish. RPSO says the victim told them that she was at a hotel in Monroe on June 9 with a man later identified as 45-year-old Limery Jones of Spartanburg, South Carolina.
According to court records, the victim said she remembered being in a hotel room then she woke up where deputies located her. Records say the victim was taken to a hospital and placed in a medically induced coma due to her injuries.
Detectives say video footage shows Jones and the victim getting a room a the hotel. They say before check out, Jones looked out of the room through the doorway and was later seen carrying the victim’s body towards the stairwell door where he is later seen dropping the victim and dragging her through the doorway. MPD says they also found recent damage inside of the hotel room. They say the victim had no sign of injuries before going into the room.
Records say that hotel security stated Jones asked someone to jump his car off but he would not open the trunk to get an item. They say he opened it through the backseat instead. A warrant for each above charge was issued for Jones. He was arrested on June 15, according to an affidavit.
