WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Ronald McDonald House in Monroe is hosting its 30th annual Big Bass Tournament this weekend.

The fishing tournament will take place at Lazarre Park in West Monroe on Saturday, June 12, and Sunday, June 13.

Money raised will go toward relocating the Ronald McDonald House inside St. Francis Medical Center.

People can register online or in person at the tournament before the start of each day.

More than $35,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded. The person who catches the biggest bass will receive $10,000.

“Tomorrow morning (Saturday) at 5:30 a.m. the fishermen start fishing and the first weigh-in is in the 7 to 8 hour. The fishermen will fish until 3 p.m Saturday afternoon. They fish again on Sunday until 3 p.m. Then Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m., we have a huge award ceremony where every fisherman that has placed in every hour for the weekend receives a check,” Georgia Street, Ronald McDonald House Executive Director, said.

The fishing tournament tends to raise between $60,000 to $75,000.

On Saturday, there will be face painting, a coloring contest and Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo will bring some animals for the kids.
