Adopt a Pet: Hampton!
MONROE, La. (KNOE) - In our Adopt a Pet segment this week, we’re at River Cities Humane Society for Cats meeting Hampton.
He’s about a year and a half old and has plenty of energy!
“Lots of energy, good with other cats, would be great for a family household,” says Amber Zitsmann, Interim Shelter Director. “He seems to be happy with everyone he meets, he hasn’t really batted an eye at anything, I think he’d blend in perfectly well, especially with a family with maybe small children who have a lot of energy and he would love to play with them.”
Before you come to the shelter they ask that you fill out a pre-adoption application first, then they’ll call you and set up an appointment. They’ve also got applications for fostering and volunteering on their website.
Zitsmann says having an appointment time gives you your own time at the shelter to really get to know the cats.
“You get an hour to meet everybody, sit down and interact with them see which personality calls to you,” explains Zitsmann. “Sometimes you get a cat that’ll walk right up to you but other times it just takes a little while for the shyer ones to come out of their shell and you really need that quiet one on one appointment time to get them to come around.”
You can reach out through Facebook or call at (318) 343-3031 if you have questions.
The shelter is open between 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and they’re located at 5302 DeSiard Street in Monroe.
