Shooting in Bastrop leaves one man dead, police searching for suspect

BASTROP, La. (KNOE) - Authorities are searching for a man who they believe is responsible for a shooting in Bastrop that left one man dead. The incident happened on May 9, 2021, during the early morning hours.

According to the Bastrop Police Department, they responded to a report of a gunshot in the areas of Bridges Street and McCreight Street. Police say when they arrived, they discovered a man, 39-year-old Bobby Rose deceased from a gunshot wound.

BPD says a felony warrant for 2nd-degree murder has been issued for 27-year-old Cornelius Devonte Whitefield. He is described as a black male, about 135lbs, brown eyes, and 5′8″ tall.
