Investigations conducted by Monroe police heat team leads to two arrests
MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Monroe Police heat team conducted two investigations on April 16, 2021, that resulted in two arrests and multiple narcotics, domestic, and weapons charges.
According to MPD, on April 16, 2021, at around 10:00 a.m., they received information on the first arrestee, 38-year-old Carlton Cyrus, who they say was wanted on domestic abuse battery and child endangerment charges. They say Cyrus is a convicted felon and was in possession of a firearm at the time of his arrest.
Authorities say they found Cyrus at the 1900 block of Raleigh Drive in Monroe. They say a search warrant was obtained for the residence. Officers say during their search, they found a handgun and drugs.
MPD says Cyrus was subsequently arrested for the warrants for domestic abuse, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession with intent to Distribute CDS IV, illegal carrying of a firearm in the presence of narcotics, and possession of CDS in the presence of juveniles.
Later that evening, officers say they received a tip that drugs were being sold at a home on Stubbs Avenue They say when they got to the residence, the suspect, 30-year-old Anthony Abraham came to the front door armed with a handgun. MPD says Abraham noticed it was the Police at the door, he immediately complied, put the handgun down on a table.
Authorities say they obtained a search warrant for Abraham’s home. They say during their search, they found a large amount of cash and drugs including synthetic marijuana. He was charged with distribution of CDS I, possession with intent to distribute CDS I, possession with intent to distribute CDS II, illegal carrying of a firearm in the presence of narcotics.
