Second arrest made in connection with April 5 Monroe homicide

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Monroe police have arrested a second person in connection to a deadly shooting that happened on April 5, 2021.

They arrested 18-year-old Antonio Hollins on April 6 in connection with the killing of Rakeem Newell. Newell was found shot to death in the 1600 block of Crescent Drive around 2:30 a.m.

Police also arrested Antavian Rucks in connection to the shooting.

Both Rucks and Hollins are charged with second-degree murder.
