Bastrop offers COVID-19 vaccine drive-thru clinic
BASTROP, La. (KNOE) - People in Bastrop in the driver’s seat at this COVID-19 vaccine drive-thru clinic. CommuniHealth Serves hosted the event to help eligible people get vaccinated.
“Morehouse Parish is a rural community where access to healthcare is limited. So, we are out here today doing a drive-thru COVID vaccine clinic because we want to help everybody get vaccinated,” Kacy Kraft with CommuniHealth Services said.
People say they’re thankful to get the shot here at home, so they don’t have to travel. On the flip side, it offered an opportunity to help people in nearby rural areas.
“It’s awesome. I have friends that live way further out than I do. I might have to go get some of them, call them and tell them to come on out,” Bastrop resident Lisa Gray said.
Gray says it was an easy process, and nurses stayed with her the whole time.
“I feel good. I mean, I feel fine. You know it burns when they give it to you, but most shots do. Other than that, I haven’t had a problem,” Gray said.
CommuniHealth officials say they’ve given about 100 vaccines and say everyone should get it.
“The vaccine does greatly reduce your risk of catching the virus, so your immunity to the virus would also protect your loved ones,” nurse practitioner Heather Davis said.
CommuniHealth Services says there will be more drive-thru vaccine clinics, but they are all in the works as of now.
People can call their Bastrop primary location for more details at (318) 283-8887.
