Local bar owner reacts to phase 3
All bars can open indoors at 25% capacity
MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Louisiana entered phase three on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. This is a step in the right direction for many bar owners.
Phase three allows bars to increase indoor capacity to 25 percent and bars in parishes with a 5 percent positivity rate or lower can open indoors at 50 percent capacity.
“Super excited about phase three that more people get to come,” The Hub Music Hall owner Amanda Lyon said.
Although Lyon is excited about phase 3, she still has some concerns.
“The restrictions that go along with it are extremely strict. When we do have live entertainment, we’re going to have certain restrictions that we have to follow all the way down from maybe like plexiglass to a slit in your mask for someone to play a wind instrument, things of that nature. But we are excited because we are a music hall. So we’re really excited to have live music back here.”
While serving up drinks, she’s worried about how the state can bounce back after a year of restrictions.
“I’m worried about Louisiana in general, especially our community because we are suffering, but we’re gonna make the best of it. And we’re just going to continue to follow the restrictions, as told, and it is a step in the right direction. But we are just ready to be full throttle.”
Lyon is looking forward to the day we return to pre-pandemic life.
“Small business owners like us and others that surround downtown Monroe, to hear 100 percent open from Governor Edwards is going to be music to our ears because that’s something that we have not been able to experience in a long time.”
