MOREHOUSE PARISH, La. (KNOE) - Authorities are investigating a fatal crash in Morehouse Parish. The incident happened on Jan. 18, 2021, at around 11:45 a.m.

According to the Louisiana State Police, they were called to U.S. Highway 165 north of the Ouachita Parish line in regard to a crash.

They say a vehicle driven by 61-year-old Victor Kennedy of Bastrop was going southbound in the outside lane of Highway 165 when his vehicle crossed into the inside travel lane and hit the back of a tractor-trailer.

LSP says the driver of the tractor-trailer was not hurt, but Kennedy sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

LSP says buckling up is the most effective way to protect yourself during a vehicle crash. Failure to take a few seconds to buckle up can have devastating consequences. Louisiana law requires every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, to be properly restrained day or night.

In 2021, Troop F has investigated three fatal crashes resulting in three deaths.
