CALDWELL PARISH, La. (KNOE) -Authorities are investigating a double boating incident that left two people dead in Caldwell Parish

According to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the bodies of two 15-year-old boys were recovered from Lafourche Lake at around midnight on Jan. 16, 2021.

They say the operator of the boat, 55-year-old Travis H, McFarlain of Pine Prairie was operating an 18-foot aluminum vessel when he hit a dock ejecting himself and three others from the boat. Two of the passengers were killed, and another was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

Wildlife agents say they conducted a breathalyzer on McFarlain and determined that he was intoxicated.

McFarlain was arrested and booked into the Caldwell Parish Correctional Center for operating a vessel while intoxicated and two counts of vehicular homicide.

The LDWF Enforcement Division will be the lead investigative agency for this fatal boating crash incident. The deceased bodies were turned over to the Caldwell Parish Coroner’s Office to determine an official cause of death.
