180 students, staff out after several COVID cases at Sterlington Middle School

STERLINGTON, La. (KNOE) - Sterlington Middle School has been hit hard by COVID-19 in the past week.

As of Jan. 18, 13 staff members, including the principal, are out due to positive tests or being in close contact with someone who tested positive.

167 students are also out of school due to multiple confirmed COVID cases at the school.

Among the students out are:

  • 26 - 6th graders
  • 109 - 7th graders
  • 32 - 8th graders

Of these, 11 tested positive for COVID-19.
