MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Oak Grove has captured another state championship. The Oak Grove Tigers have won their second back to back championship making this the team’s seventh championship win. While the team celebrated their big win on the field in Natchitoches, KNOE visited the town of Oak Grove to hear from its community members on how they feel about the team’s big victory.

As it turns out the town of Oak Grove couldn’t be more thrilled with its tigers. The town was almost deserted as almost everyone was in Natchitoches, showing support to the team.

Residents and businesses stopped at nothing to show their support for their Tigers. Community members even painted murals supporting the team.

Even the local movie theatre displayed a special message honoring their football team. Oak Grove Mayor Adam Holland and members of the community say while they could not be there in person to support the team they can’t hide their excitement.

“It’s a huge win not only for the team but the town of Oak Grove as well...a very exciting barn burner thriller all the way to the very end for these young men,” said Oak Grove Mayor Adam Holland with a big smile on his face.

“They’ve had an extremely good year this year especially with the covid and all they had to do to go all the way to state. It’s a big impact on our town it brings the community together because everybody supports them and they’ve had just an awesome year,” Modern Beauty Shop owner Vicki Clarkson added.

The Oak Grove Tigers beat the Grand Lake Hornets 33 to 7 for the LHSAA 1A State Championship.
