FEMA offering drive-thru disaster relief, mobile registration
MONROE, La. (KNOE) - FEMA is continuing to take damage claims at its drive-thru Disaster Recovery Centers. It has also opened up new mobile registration sites in Jackson and Union Parish.
FEMA has reported 5,800 Ouachita Parish residents have registered for assistance. They also report $1 million dollars of assistance has been granted parish-wide.
People seeking assistance are expected to provide their social security number and proof of residence when registering. They are also asked to bring photos of the damage to their home, and receipts for repairs if seeking reimbursement.
All documentation given to FEMA workers at the drive-thru sites will be scanned and returned to the person.
“Being the fact that we are in a COVID-19 environment, we still need an avenue for survivors to be able to submit these documents, right? And so that’s what these mobile drive up DRC’s are allowing us to be able to provide that service to the survivors," said FEMA public information officer Craig Browning.
Masks or face coverings are required for entry to the mobile sites.
