WINNSBORO, La. (KNOE) - A Winnsboro family is asking for donations at a blood replenishment drive on Saturday, Sept. 12.

A boating accident left 8-year-old Carter Robertson with significant head and hand injuries in May. His mother Sunni says his recovery has been a miracle, partly because of the blood donations he received to help recover.

Carter has been able to return to school and return to some of his hobbies because of the help he’s received. Now his family is asking for others to give blood in Carter’s honor to save more lives.

“Hopefully, someone helps save somebody else’s life,” Sunni says. “I’m definitely thankful to all those who gave to help save our son’s life. It means a lot, because it’s one of the many reasons why he’s here. Because somebody else gave their blood to save his life.”

The replenishment drive will be at White Ford in Winnsboro, La. on Saturday, Sept. 12. It will be from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Recently, LifeShare declared an emergency blood shortage and is also asking for any donations.
