MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The City of Ruston is imposing a curfew again due to widespread power outages.

A Friday Facebook post says, “As of 1:00 pm, Friday August 28, 2020: There is a 7PM-7AM curfew imposed for all areas within the City of Ruston for this is to ensure safety for our city due to the power outages.”

Ruston Mayor Ronnie Walker says 95% of Ruston’s electrical grid went down due to Hurricane Laura. He says hundreds of trees are down and almost all of them involve power lines.

Work is being done to get the electrical grid back online. The grid is coming up piece-by-piece. They hope to have the whole grid up by Tuesday. However, if your home is unable to receive power due to damage, you will have to get that damage fixed before electricity will be restored to your home.

If you need help or want to help, call 211.

See this video message from Mayor Walker posted on Friday for more details.
