Tallulah man charged with murder of Madison Parish woman
TALLULAH, La. (KNOE) - Louisiana State Police and the Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested 42-year-old Curtis Carroll, of Tallulah, on Wednesday, Aug. 12. Carroll was charged with the second-degree murder of 38-year-old Pamela Oliver.
LSP Detectives were contacted by the sheriff’s office on Monday regarding a missing person. Detectives said Oliver was last seen on Saturday. She was reported missing on Sunday.
Officials said Oliver’s body was found on an area of farmland in Mound, Louisiana, on Tuesday.
During the investigation, state police say they determined Carroll murdered Oliver and left her body along the tree line.
Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office Investigator Brandon Wiltcher said Carroll’s name came up as a current boyfriend of Pamela Oliver.
Wiltcher said there’s still no information on how Oliver died.
He said it's a tragic situation, and they're truly sorry for the family.
“You know, it was a really difficult and emotional case to work based on the circumstances that were involved, and we truly feel sorry for the family and for the community as well.”
Carroll was booked into Madison Parish Jail.
Police said Carroll was also the suspect in an arson being investigated by the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal. Authorities say he confessed to the fire during this murder investigation. Carroll will be charged by the Fire Marshal’s office.
Wiltcher said Carroll does have some other criminal activity in his past, but could not go any further into it.
He said some parts of the investigation are still ongoing.
Because it is an active investigation, Oliver’s mother declined to comment at the time.
