Lincoln Parish School Superintendent retiring
MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Lincoln Parish School Superintendent Mike Milstead has announced he will be retiring.
The decision comes after a long career in education; 50 years by the time he retires.
He said he’ll have served as Lincoln Parish School Superintendent for five and a half years by the time his contract expires on Dec. 30.
Milstead said he plans to move out of state, and he’s looking forward to spending more time with his family.
He said he’ll miss coming to work, and the people. His advice to whoever takes his place is to listen and learn from others.
“We feel like this staff that, whoever comes into this position will have a great staff to work with, and they’ll help make you successful,” he said.
Milstead said they’re looking to start taking applications in September. He said they’re looking to be doing interviews in late October, and to have his replacement announced by the end of that month. If that happens, they’ll have a few months to learn the ropes with Milstead before his contract ends.
