MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Authorities have identified the person found dead in the Ouachita River on Monday morning.
Monroe police say 33-year-old Ryan Stroud, of Lafayette, was found about 200 yards south of where the bike trail starts. Two people were biking on the trails at the end of Forsythe park when they discovered the body around 10:40 a.m.
There were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play, police say. The body was sent to Little Rock for an autopsy.
Police says Stroud’s father in Lafayette was notified by phone. According to police, his father said that Stroud had struggled with alcohol and drug addiction and was in Ouachita Parish for rehab. Stroud didn’t have any family in Ouachita Parish. He was wearing a New Day Recovery bracelet on his left wrist when located, police said.
The Monroe Police Department is asking for the public’s help in determining where Stroud may have been or who he may have been with prior to his death. If you have any information, you are asked to call Monroe PD.
