OUACHITA, La. (KNOE) - Some business owners are using social media to keep their doors open during the pandemic.

Ann Ryland, the owner of Gypsy Soul in Monroe said that at one point she thought she would have to close permanently.

“I just closed the door and left and my friends just kept saying ‘you need to do something, you need to do something’ and I had seen a couple of people do the Facebook Live,” Ryland said.

Ryland now hosts Facebook Lives every Monday showing off her latest clothing, home goods, and other knick-knacks.

Tara Daniel with Estate Sales by Tara is also using the social media feature to display and sell collectibles and antiques.

“Why don’t I start using my Facebook page, my business page and sell things that people are wanting to buy at the estate sales,” Daniel said.

Daniel said she’s had great success with people buying items instantly and has reached a wider audience too.

Both ladies said they’re planning to continue streaming to their customers far and wide.

“As long as I know there’s people watching, we’ll keep doing it,” Ryland said.
