Rhett’s Tails and Shells hosting fourth annual Veteran’s benefit
FARMERVILLE, La. (KNOE) - The fourth annual veteran’s benefit at Rhett’s Tails and Shells in Farmerville is Friday. Proceeds from the event will go to non-profit veteran’s organizations like AMVETS and the Louisiana Hunters for Heroes.
Starting at 12 p.m. people can enjoy a day-long celebration of food, live music, and fireworks. People can pay 75 dollars for a table of six and get served jambalaya and white beans plates. There will be a live music performance by Calhoun artist Chancie Neal from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Owner Rhett Trahan said they host this event every year as a way to give back to the veterans.
“Everything’s about the Veterans. They gave up everything for this country. A lot of them suffer from mental to physical disabilities. And some of them are homeless. We live in the land of the free and it’s all because of them,” said Trahan.
People can rent kayaks and participate in watersports at Lake D’arbonne. Trahan said people will be spread out at the event so they can come out and have fun while social distancing and staying safe.
“Be safe, taking precaution and everything but surely enjoy what the Fourth of July is all about... which is a celebration, and support your veterans, you know? They gave a whole lot more for this country than most people ever thought about,” said Trahan.
The event will end with a fireworks show at Lake D’arbonne around 8:45 p.m.
