MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The West Monroe Police Department is posting a July 3 sobriety checkpoint and plans to use saturation patrols for the 4th of July weekend.

The July 3 checkpoint will be from 6 p.m. to midnight inside the West Monroe city limits.

Saturation patrols typically include an enhanced presence in a concentrated area. These will be used during the weekend.

WMPD encourages drivers to be safe and stay sober while celebrating the 4th of July. DWI and Occupant Protection Laws will be enforced.

WMPD says the saturation patrols and the checkpoint are federally funded through the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
