MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The Louisiana Army National Guard’s State Aviation Command performed a flyover in honor of first responders and healthcare professionals on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Four Blackhawk helicopters flew over different hospitals around the state, including St. Francis in Monroe.

Ray Javers is the Director of Telemetry at St. Francis and a Commander in the Army Reserves.

“Being a member of the armed forces and a person in the medical field, it just feels good. I feel solidarity with the armed forces, and being recognized for that, it’s just a really good feeling.”

Javers said he wanted people to be proud of the country they live in, and to continue practicing safety measures during the pandemic.
