CALDWELL PARISH, La. (KNOE) - Authorities have brought an additional charge against a Northeast Louisiana police chief who had been recently arrested on other charges.

According to Louisiana State Police, Grayson Police Chief Mitch Bratton is now charged with felony theft in addition to his previous charges of obstruction of justice and malfeasance in office.

LSP says Bratton was arrested June 16 on the new charge and booked into the Caldwell Parish Jail.

Previously, on June 4, LSP said they initiated an investigation into the Grayson Police Department following a complaint of missing seized currency. As a result of the investigation, LSP placed the Grayson Police Department Chief, Mitch Bratton, under arrest on charges of obstruction of justice (2 cts.) and malfeasance in office.

According to LSP, during the course of the investigation, investigators determined Bratton seized $2,500 and $1,150 on two separate cases. The seized currency could not be accounted for and was never logged as evidence. They say LSP investigators determined Bratton intentionally concealed the missing currency.

The case is still under investigation.
