WINNSBORO, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Officials are expecting to have served more than 1,500 Northeast Louisiana residents with medical, dental, and optical care during the two-week health clinic open from July 6-17, 2014.

Leadership from the Delta Regional Authority and the US Army Reserve will join local community leaders to tour the clinic and meet with on-site clinic officials to discuss the current Innovative Readiness Training health clinic and review expect outcomes from the health services being provided. During the 12 days of the health clinic, Army reserve forces conducted more than 4,000 procedures including dental exams and tooth extractions, optical exams and glasses fabrication, and physical and nutritional consultations.

Franklin Parish and those parishes it touches have some of the highest rates of uninsured residents–ranging from 21.4-26.9 percent. All surrounding parishes are designated as Medically Underserved Areas. In addition to the care provided to local residents, the health mission serves as a training opportunity for the Reserve’s medical units.
