Am-Vets Post 66 has to boot their gaming devices out the door

Posted: Updated:
MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News)- For casinos and bingo halls electronic gaming devices can be an easy way to make quick money.

That's why charitable organizations decide to get in on the action, but state law makers have cut them out.

A charitable veterans organization is concerned about how it will keep the lights on and continue to raise money for veterans, once the gaming screens go dark.

House Bill 293 is what some are saying will be the death of places like this am-vets post here in Monroe and many others like it all across the state, once electronic gaming devices are removed from them on August 1.

Am-Vets Post 66 is suggesting anyone who has used the machines and have a balance remaining on their players card, to claim their winnings at the post by July 31.

The bill prohibits these devices in internet cafes as well .
