Jefferson Parish Sheriff searching for man accused of killing wife, taking children

METAIRIE, La (WAFB/WVUE) -Jefferson Parish Sheriff's say three children were abducted by their father from an apartment in Metairie after he killed their mother. Officers were called out to the scene of the murder in the 4000 block of Durand Street after two of their children found their mother dead early Sunday morning.

Police say the two children, ages 5 and 8, knocked on their neighbors door around 3:35 a.m. to tell them something was wrong with their mother, according to Sheriff Newell Normand with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. When police arrived they found the body of a Hispanic woman unconscious in her bathtub with a blunt force trauma wound to the head. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, her identity has not been released.

Three other children were taken by their father, 43-yr-old Pedro Alberto Monterroso-Navas, after the murder. The children are Jessica Nicolle Monterroso, 14, female with black hair and dark colored eyes, Yojan Manuel Monterroso-Flores, 4, male with black hair and dark colored eyes, and Jafet Abigaitl Monterroso-Monroy, 2, male with black hair and dark colored eyes. The 5 and 8-year-old were not taken.

Navas is described as a Hispanic male with brown hair. He was last seen wearing black pants and a blue shirt and walks with a limp. Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of the children and/or suspect should immediately contact the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office at 504-364-5300 or 911.
