Keep the grass off the streets

Posted: Updated:
MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News)-  Monroe Code Enforcement is warning lawn services to not blow the grass into the streets after completing their job.

Many in the Garden District of Monroe attended the last City Council meeting complaining about lawn services coming to their neighborhood, leaving evidence that they had done.

Resident of the Garden District, Marilyn Denoux says she is tired of the messy unfinished job lawn services do in her neighborhood.

"Not only does it look like a green hurricane but it clogs up all of the drainage, the ditches and it's not fair to other people," Denoux said.

Monroe Code Enforcement suggest those lawn services who are doing the illegal to stop or pay a hefty fine.

"Our max fine is 500 hundred dollars our minimum fine is 100 dollars," Chief Code Enforcer, Catharine Robinson said.

If you see someone illegally blowing onto the streets or placing garbage on vacant property. Monroe Code Enforcement is asking that you call 329-2336.
