UPDATE: Pedestrian killed on Highway 165 identified

UPDATE FRIDAY: (KNOE 8 News & LSP) - Louisiana State Police say the pedestrian has been identified as 60-year-old Wilbur Young of Monroe.

Previous reports:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 NEWS) - Over night a man was hit and killed by a 2003 silver trail blazer. The trail blazer was driven by Karry Davis of Monroe.   Davis was headed north on Highway 165 when the man stepped into the outside lane of traffic near the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center.

The identity of the man is unknown at this time.   He was pronounced dead at the scene.   The coroner is working with the state police to identify the man.

He is a black male who was wearing a red shirt and black pants.   State police are asking that if you know any one who fits the description and who was in the area last night to contact them.  More details as they are released.
