GOLDEN MEADOW, La. (AP) - Lafourche Parish is rebuilding Golden Meadow marsh

About 130 acres of marsh have come to life just over the western levee in Golden Meadow.

Parish officials say the marsh will continue growing as long as money for it becomes available.

In June, the Parish Council passed a measure to provide $250,000 in parish money and $930,000 from Ducks Unlimited to create 30 more acres of marsh.

Ducks Unlimited was awarded money through the Coastal Restoration Partnership Fund of the state Coastal Restoration and Protection Authority.

Parish Administrator Archie Chaisson said parish officials hope to begin creating another segment of marsh by the end of this year.
