2014 Miss Louisiana pageant coming to a close

Posted: Updated:
MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - On Saturday, current Miss Louisiana Jaden Leach will give up her crown and a new Miss Louisiana will be named.

Thirty- two contestants from across the state have been competing all week and making appearances across the twin cities.

But soon, the judges will narrow down the competition to 10 contestants, then a top 5, and one will go home with the crown.

Pageant organizers say the girls faced a grueling schedule and have worked really hard all week.

And one former Miss Louisiana was there to help ease some of the jitters.

"It has fun being back stage. I'm actually performing this year,” Katie Guyton Lewter, said. “So I've been able to sit with them at lunch and talk them through things. So, it’s been really fun to walk down memory lane again because I remember getting the nerves and those feelings. Just to be an encouragement has been fun.”

The Miss Louisiana pageant continues at 7:30 p.m. with a pre-show and at 8 p.m. it will begin live right here on KNOE.
