HARRISONBURG, La. (KNOE 8 News) - After human remains were found in a field north of Sicily Island, two people of interest are now in custody of the Catahoula Parish Sheriff's Office.

Daniel White, 36, was in custody at Ouachita Correctional Center on unrelated charges when he became a suspect in this case. Saturday, he was transferred to Catahoula Parish, and is now charged with Second Degree Kidnapping. No details about that charge have been released.

Leah Marie Pontiff, 30, was arrested Friday for obstruction charges in Catahoula Parish.

The remains were found near a corn field off of Ditto and Gamble Road between Wisner and Sicily Island. The discovery came after a tip was called in to the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office.

Mary Manhein of FACES, a forensic team from LSU, recovered the remains and have taken them back to their lab in Baton Rouge for further analysis.

According to Sheriff James Kelly, this case could be connected to a missing persons case in Ouachita Parish, details of that have not been released either.
