Unidentified body found in field in Sicily Island

SICILIY ISLAND, La. (KNOE 8 News) - KNOE 8 News has learned that the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office received a tip last night that a body was buried in Catahoula Parish.

OPSO contacted the Catahoula Parish Sheriff's Department.  CPSD was able to locate a burial site, but waited to exume the body until the LSU FACES team could help.

At around 3 this afternoon, the body was recovered.


SICILY ISLAND (KNOE 8 News/KALB) - KNOE 8 News' sister station has learned that two persons of interests are being held in connection to this case.

Catahoula Parish Sheriff Office is treating the case like a homicide. 

1 person of interest, a man, is being held in Ouachita Parish on unrelated charges.  The other is being held in Catahoula Parish on an obstruction charge.  That person is a woman. 

SICILY ISLAND, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A body was discovered in a field in rural Catahoula Parish Thursday night

Sheriff James Kelly tells KNOE that the body has not been identified. Catahoula Sheriff's Office is working closely with Louisiana State Police, along with Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office. Kelly says evidence at the scene could connect it to a missing persons case in Ouachita Parish. Ouachita investigator Jason Pleasant can not give any further information about the missing persons case, but says it could be connected.
