UNION PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News & UPSO) - Shots were fired through the front window of a rural Spearsville home late Tuesday night. The shots came within inches of striking an elderly couple.

Union Parish sheriff’s deputies are asking that anyone with any information to call Crime Stoppers of Union Parish at 318.368.9679 or 1.800.828.3979.

Sheriff Dusty Gates said the shots were apparently fired from a vehicle on Goose Elkins Road near La. Hwy. 550 near Spearsville.

“It appears that this was a deliberate act of violence,” Gates said.

The sheriff said two shots were fired through a front window, the first narrowly missing the husband who was sitting at a kitchen bar and the other at the wife who was peeling peaches at the dining room table.

Crime Stoppers of Union Parish will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to a felony arrest or grand jury indictment. A person would not have to give their name or appear in court.
