Updated: Two killed in Lincoln Parish industrial accident

LINCOLN PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News & LPSO) - UPDATED: Two men are dead and one person was injured in a drilling rig accident late Thursday night.

On Thursday, June 19, 2014, at approximately 11:45 PM, Lincoln Parish deputies responded to a call for service originating from a Wild Horse drilling rig, located in Western Lincoln Parish (Joe Road area), as a result of a tragic industrial accident.

It is understood that tremendous pressure that was present on some components gave way, causing the release of pressure. Ryan Hinson (Longview, TX) and Thomas Samuel (Nacogdoches, TX) were pronounced dead at the scene, family members have been notified.

A third subject was treated and released at Northern Louisiana Medical Center. Specifics into the events that occurred, leading up to the accident are still being investigated.

The sheriff's office tells KNOE the accident happened near Simsboro and could have reportedly been related to an oil rig explosion.
