Moss Point Police chief resignation rejected

Posted: Updated:

MOSS POINT, Miss. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - The Moss Point Board of Aldermen has voted unanimously to reject Police Chief Keith Davis' resignation until they can find out why he quit.

Davis submitted his resignation last week to Mayor Billy Broomfield.

Davis was not at Tuesday's meeting and did not reply to requests for comment.

The mayor and the board both said they were not sure what happens next.

Broomfield says because of the vote, Davis is still the police chief.

When asked if Davis resigned because he didn't get along with the mayor, Broomfield said Davis never told him that.

Davis became chief in Moss Point in 2011.
