Breaking News: Bus accident with injuries

UPDATE

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News, 9:15 AM) - Police say that a Monroe City Bus was westbound on Desiard St. when a 2002 Buick Century traveling Eastbound on Desiard conducted a left turn in front of the bus, causing the two vehicles to impact.

Four people on the city bus were transported to area hospitals by AMR for what is described as minor injuries.

The driver of the Buick vehicle was transported to a local hospital by AMR for what is described as serious injuries.

Damage to both vehicles is extensive and both required tow removal from the scene.

The driver of the Buick, Evoria Gardner of Monroe. was issued a citation for Improper Turn.



UPDATE:

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News, 9:05 AM) - A passenger on the bus says the bus was going westbound on Desiard at 18th Street.  The car was going eastbound on Desiard.  According to the rider, the car turned in front of the bus.

There were approximately 15 passengers on the bus. 

The passengers who did not go to hospital were put on another bus.

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News, 8:40 AM) - Emergency crews are on the scene of a bus accident with injuries Tuesday morning.

The accident happened just after 8:00 AM Tuesday at Desiard and 18th Streets in Monroe.

The crash involves one vehicle and a Monroe Transit bus. Our crew reports three people have been taken to the hospital with unknown injuries at this time. It is not known if the injuries were inside the car or bus.

KNOE 8 News has a crew on the scene and will update this story as new information becomes available.
