Woman hit by train in Monroe

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A woman was injured after being hit by a train today.

The 20-year-old woman was walking on the railroad tracks in the 3200 block of White street when she was hit by a piece of metal attached to the oncoming train and knocked to the ground.

Reports state the train operator blew the horn several times before the woman noticed the train and tried to move.

Monroe police responded to the call around 2:40 p.m. today. The woman was take to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries. She was issued a summons for trespassing on rail property, then released.
