CROWLEY, La. (KNOE 8 News/AP) - Acadia Parish Coroner Dr. Mark Dawson says the death of a 3-year-old Lake Arthur boy in May has been ruled a homicide.

Dawson and Sheriff Wayne Melancon said in a joint news release Thursday that the investigation into the death of Keaghyn Ross Parsons is ongoing.

Authorities say Parsons was visiting his step mother in Evangeline when he collapsed in the home on May 19. He was taken to the Jennings American Legion Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Melancon says an autopsy has been performed and they are waiting on the results.
