Volunteers want Winnsboro mayor to help find homes for animals in the city shelter

WINNSBORO, La. (KNOE 8 News)- Recently the City of Winnsboro re implemented the euthanasia program, giving the dogs five days after being impounded to be collected by the owner or adopted.

After those five days they are euthanized.

Kim Kimbrough's dog, Patrick was picked up by the Winnsboro Animal Control in 2010. She didn't know he had been captured. He was euthanized  and ever since his death she has devoted her spare time to making sure the dogs at the Winnsboro pound finds a home.

She says the city should as well.

The pound is open from 12 to two everyday..

Since the city has changed the locks to the facility, volunteers have been given limited access.

The volunteers provide medicine for the dogs, walk them twice a week, and arrange adoption events.

They just hope the city helps in their efforts instead of just killing them.
