Two robberies/shootings early Saturday morning in Monroe

MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Monroe Police are investigating two early morning armed robberies, where victims could give little to no information about the incidents.

Early Saturday morning, Monroe Police responded to a reported robbery/shooting that is alleged to have occurred on Grammont Street. An investigation revealed that the victim was walking alone on the railroad tracks when he was approached by an unknown black male who produced a handgun and demanded money. The victim ran away and was shot one time in the lower left leg. The victim went to the hospital, received treatment for the non-life threatening injury and was released. The victim could not identify or describe the suspect, the location of the crime, or any other details about this incident. The investigation is ongoing.

A few hours later, around 2 AM, police responded to another reported robbery/shooting on Stacy Drive. An investigation revealed that the victim was at this location sitting in his vehicle when he was approached by 2-3 unknown persons who demanded he get out of his vehicle at gunpoint. The victim got out of the vehicle and was shot one time to the upper left leg. The suspects took cash and the victim’s car keys and fled the scene on foot. The victim was treated at a local hospital for the non-life threatening injury. The victim could not give any description of the suspects, why he was in the area, and stated he did not know anyone who lived at the location. The investigation is ongoing.
