UPDATE: West Monroe Police chase suspect identified

Police have identified the suspect as Bart Mullins of Greensboro, North Carolina. He is being booked now in West Monroe and will be transferred to OCC.

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE 8 News) - A forgery suspect is now in custody after attempting to run over a police officer, and leading West Monroe Police on a chase across town.

It all started at Advance Cash America Pawn, according to Major David May. West Monroe Police were called for a forgery and disturbance. When they arrived, the suspect fled on foot, then got into car.  The suspected hit a police officer and drove down LA 34.

The suspect turned his vehicle around and the chase end when he hit another vehicle on Constitution Drive.

The police officer and other driver have been treated and are ok.

The suspect is in custody, but police have not been able to positively identify him. The suspect has multiple I.D.s and $12,000 cash in his vehicle.

As of 4:00pm, he is still being interviewed, and is charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, Aggravated flight, Resisting an Officer, and 2 counts of Forgery.
