Richland suspect chase ends in Ouachita Parish arrest

RICHLAND PARISH, La. (KNOE 8 News) - Richland Parish deputies arrest a man, wanted on drug charges, after the suspect leads them on a chase reaching speeds of 90 miles per hour.

Thursday, around 8:45am, a Richland Parish Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Winford Gundy of Rayville. Gundy was wanted on four counts of distribution of synthetic cannibais. These charges stem from an investigation conducted over the past few months by RPSO – investigators.

Gundy was spotted by deputies and when the attempted to stop him, he fled. The pursuit lasted for about 15 minutes with speeds reaching in excess of 90 mph.

Louisiana State Police deployed traffic spikes in an attempt to stop the fleeing vehicle; which worked after Gundy drove over three spike strips.

Gundy was subdued by a Taser and was treated at E.A. Conway and released. RPSO was assisted in the pursuit by LA Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and Louisiana State Police. Pursuit ended approximately three miles inside of Ouachita Parish.

Gundy was arrested on the following charges:
Four counts of Distribution of Synthetic Cannibais (warrants)
Aggravated Flight from an Officer
And 11 traffic violations
